Today is Trans Day of Remembrance

Transphobia kills. And the world is poorer for it. In the past twelve months, there have been 265 known murders of trans* individuals. Please take a moment today to remember them.

Linked here is a list of vigils being held, locations and times.

Linked here is the list of the dead.

Have I mentioned lately how much I love Joe Biden?

I can’t recall the last time I heard a politician talk about trans* issues… until now.

Just don’t read the comments.
(As always.)

25 Things I Do to Make my Dysphoria Feel Smaller and Quieter

Body dysphoria feels like the worst-fitting outfit you’ve ever put together, but you can never take it off. Or sometimes it’s more like a pebble in your shoe, or a belt that digs into your side, or a tiny thing that is just noticeable enough to throw your day off. Some days I wake up and it’s just there. Some days it’s because I tried to fit my not-so-masculine body into my masculine clothes, and the parts that didn’t fit made me want to scream and disappear and puke up all my guts at the same time. It can grow into a scary place where I don’t know if my body belongs to me, and I feel like I’ve been detached from something essential and am about to wash out to sea.

that is thhe best description of it i’ve ever heard oh wow

Just a reminder that we don’t all share the same narratives

Some of us were born the gender we are now, and some of us lived as our assigned gender for a while then transitioned to something different.

Some of us are or were trapped, and some of us feel that there are no traps.

We don’t all require or desire the same things to feel comfortable, whole or complete.

There is not one standard trans narrative. We each have our own stories.

Where language gets problematic is when we aren’t the ones telling our own stories; when our narratives are reduced to cis-friendly tidbits.

It’s okay to talk about being trapped; it’s okay to say you were born a boy or a girl and are now something else. It’s not okay when the media would have society at large believe that there is only one way to be trans.

When reading things written by other trans folk, please remember that they may not tell their story the same way that you would. We are a community of many voices, not just one.

And let’s remember that not everyone uses the terms you use, and not everyone finds the terms you find offensive to be so.

Trans friendly Rape Survivors Resources

Also, RAINN (national clearinghouse) is trans* affirming

And local to St Louis:
the YWCA St. Louis regional sexual assault center
Crime Victims Advocacy Center
Rescue and Restore coalition (human trafficking, forced commercial sex)
AVAP (hate violence)
are all trans* affirming (and actively engaged in becoming more so.)
Transhaven is also able to provide direct advocacy services, helping survivors of sexual assault to interface with the network of anti-violence agencies in the St. Louis region.

starkholme-syndrome, or known to several of my friends as cas, is a racist trans*-hate apologist who is planning onoutingmy close friend who is transgender to their mom.

he is unapologetic about his actions, and before has said and done some incredibly racist things- when I called him out on it, I was sent incredibly triggering messages by his friend which he laughed off.

he has claimed that my friends and I, many of whom are transgender, have turned being trans* into a “fad” and have on many occasions invalidated our identities.

i could stand it until today. now he has forced my close friend to tell their parents about their gender identity or risk having him do it for them.

this is not fair. this is terrifying.

please. for your own safety and the safety of the people around you- he is ruthless. he does not listen to reasoning or begging. i do not want him to ruin any more lives.

sighs a lot.

yeah signal boost this please.

he is a really nasty person, and you really don’t want to associate with him holy shit.

All HRT information compiled into a handy source.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT. Anyone who plans on taking HRT without a prescription from your doctor (via ordering on-line or some other method), this website has all dosages, amount of times you take daily, the specific names of the prescriptions, how you administer them, all the “red flag” side effects to look out for, etc. etc.

Please pass this along!

I don’t care for some of the terminology, but holy crap, this is useful.

I personally feel that using hormones without professional supervision is some risky business, but if that’s what you’re doing, get yuhself educated!<3

http://transhealth.ucsf.edu/trans?page=protocol-00-00  This organization has it together. Ill leave it at that…

reblobbing for new link ^^^^^

Reblogging for new link.

Seriously, if you at all have the option to do HRT under a physician’s care, do it, but if you really need it and can’t… check out the link.

So you can block her pre-emptively before she stalks you again.

Cathy Brennan is evil. She uses tumblr to stalk, harasses and out trans* people. So if you are trans* or know somebody who is, heads up.
